Op-ed in la presse from members of the Canadian COVID app advisory committee
Along with Jean-François Gagné and Eloïse Gratton, I published an op-ed in la presse encouraging Quebec to consider approving the Canadian app. A translated excerpt is below:
As Quebec members of the expert committee responsible for evaluating the federal COVID Alert application, we were disappointed with the Quebec government’s announcement on August 25 not to support the deployment of a mobile application ” considering the stable pandemic situation ”.
It would have seemed prudent to us to invite the population to use the application before the arrival of a second wave rather than to do so in a crisis situation, in particular in order to have a higher rate of participation and in order to ensure a period of alignment between provincial data and services and the application. However, since we are now well established in the “second wave”, this decision deserves to be revised.
